Título: Kaleidoscopic process: The construction of adolescence from teenagers' and parents' point of view
Fuente: Cuad. psiquiatr. psicoter. niño adolesc;2(65,cong):55-59, ene.-jun. 2018.
Idioma: en.
Resumen: Looking at adolescence from teenagers and parents' point of view might channel different narratives about what this process can be and how they both construe their relationship. The present work is a two stages preliminary research: in the first one both adolescents' and parents' reciprocal constructions about themselves, the others and adolescence were collected. In the second stage authors presented to the same groups of participants their previously collected perceptions, in the form of Perceiver-Element Grid, and interviewed them about their responses to these. This work will share the outcomes of inviting parents and adolescents to 'take the role of the other', to see themselves through the other's eyes. Further both clinical and research applications will be discussed

Título: Adolescents' risk-taking behaviors in sexuality: A danger or an elaborative chioce?
Fuente: Cuad. psiquiatr. psicoter. niño adolesc;2(65,cong):51-54, ene.-jun. 2018.
Idioma: en.
Resumen: Does to say that teenagers are ruled by hormones, incapable of considering the consequences of unprotected sex, help us understand them better? What did behaving in risky ways, while being informed on healthy sexual behaviours, mean to their sexuality? Considering adolescence as a process rather than a developmental stage, this work, through Personal Construct Psychology, will present adolescents as inquiring men, with the aim of finding new constructions of Self, including in the field of sexuality. In this field, unsafe sexual behaviours can be understood as elaborative attempts to position themselves in relationships. Such a proposal can lay the foundations for alternative prevention projects and sex education courses, in which the idea of right and wrong behaviour gives way to one of elaborate choice

The assessment of learning difficulties in children should consider not only neurodevelopmental dimensions as explanatory factors for the disorders, but also take into account psycho-affective and contextual dimensions. An unified and integrated vision of the factors impacting learning is necessary to allow the implementation of measures which are adapted and invested by involved actors: the child, the family and the school. Our PACIdA evaluation model offers an integrated look at this issue

This is the story of a child suffering severe burns, with multidisciplinary care. We are going to tell you about Leo, 8 years old. When he was 2, Leo has been seriously hurt in his physicial integrity during a fire triggered by his brother. Leo lives in Clairs Vallons since the age of 4. But it's in a violent environnement from which we can't always protect Leo that he has to grow up and build his future : trauma, domestic violence, medical violence, social violence... We take care of Leo, thin-skinned, trapped in acts and words of care givers, either in opposition or breaking down. Our team, invested in keeping his childhood whatever, despite all that we know about him, about his future and our incapacity to cure him. How to help Leo to take hold of his life while in the hospital, parents and doctors are talking about his future as if he wasn't there. How to support a child without forgetting to adapt our medical terms into a child's langage, and to offer him back to express himself? How to manage and take care of our sensibility while we are coping with the violence of the trauma

Resumen: The choice of this job theme resides in the afterthought of what continuously happens to us as professionals within our normal daily experiences. What are the effects of many violent actions in which we see and of which we are the spectators or protagonists? What are the means through which we filter fear, distress and the mental projections recounted from our patents? How much does this break us down? What about in the long term? Entirely, we are reminded how to maintain our love for our work and the best intentions to help our patients When we speak of our work, one can see that we express pleasure in helping, seeing the fruits of our labor, the bitterness and delusion, which is experienced both verbally and physically. So let's begin with the word 'violence'. A word having multiple meanings, for example, destroying another because they are inferring with ones' desires, destroying another psychologically because they are disturbing the person or groups well- being, the very last attempt to recuperate a relationship, strenuous fight to defend oneself

Resumen: Psychiatric emergencies have steadily increased in recent years, but they are still poorly defined and studied, especially in developmental age and outside the Emergency Department context. This retrospective cross-sectional study aims to analyse characteristics of a clinical sample under the light of psychiatric urgency and emergency concepts. Both the 'urgency' and 'emergency' concepts and the Rosenn & Gail's severity classification were applied to 399 first inspection forms to describe different conditions at the arrival. About half of the cases corresponded to urgency/emergency conditions, with a male gender prevalence and an average age of 10 y. Emergency was associated to Behavioural Disorders mainly, while urgency conditions were associated to Somatic sphere Disorders, Self-injured Behaviours, Anxious -Affective Disorders. This research, operating a differentiation between urgency and emergency, allows a clearer identification and a tailored therapeutic plan about cases that are similar on a symptomatic side but different by a psychopathological perspective
